CALL FOR ARTISTS: Un-B*XnExhibition

1310 Gallery has the honor to invite you to the “Un-B*XnExhibition.  This exhibition is composed of South Florida artists unveiling… new works, different mediums, themes, or styles.

Exhibition Dates: September 20th – October 11th, 2024                                                                                                                        

Opening Reception: September 20th @ 6-10 pm           

Closing Reception: October 11th @ 6-8 pm           

Exhibition Statement

“A simple line painted with the brush can lead to freedom and happiness” by Joan Miro

In the context of the Exhibition, the “Un-B*Xn refers to journeys into the new, the unknown or the different. We are asking for artists who are unveiling something “authentic” in regards to styles, mediums, and exploration to the public for the first time. 

All genres are open for submission.

About the Curator

Nikolaos Yulis received his Master’s in Visual Arts from Miami International University of Arts & Design and Graduate studies, Parson’s School of Design and C.W. Post in New York. He has exhibits both at the national and international level. He is an Art Coordinator at South Broward College and a Gallery consultant.

About the Gallery

1310 Gallery has 2,400 square of exhibition space (divide into 3 levels). The 1310 Gallery is part of the ArtSpace Sailboat Bend Artist Lofts in downtown Fort Lauderdale. The 1310 is an artist run collective that rotates monthly art exhibitions. Our gallery exhibits artworks from Florida and at the national level. The gallery is locked between events. It is opened during the exhibition dates, or on other dates and times by appointment.

Submission Guidelines (Please Read Carefully)

Artists are individually liable for their own artwork(s).  The 1310 Gallery will provide utmost care on handling and the safety of your artwork(s) upon delivery; but because we are non-profit collective we are unable to offer insurance for your work(s). A $35 donation given when dropping off work would be appreciated to cover expenses for the show.

When pricing your work add 10% – this will go the 1310 Gallery Donation Fund. 

The Submission Deadline is Aug 10th 2024

Accepted Artists will be notified by Aug 12th

Applicants can submit a maximum of 7 images of their artwork by email. The artist or owner of the pieces will assume expenses for the shipping of the pieces as well as for the delivery.

For Performances/ Installations a descriptive proposal must be submitted as an attached word document, double space, 12 points in Times New Roman and saved as

PDF. Please include Title – Thumbnail Sketch or Pic example, Dimension of gallery space needed, and specific set of instructions or request for specific technologies.

QR Codes are also Accepted for any performance/music-based work.

Delivery of Artwork to the 1310 Gallery

Out-of-state Artists

All artworks shipped from out of state must be here between September 8 to September 13. Artwork must be professionally presentable for hanging or installation. Flat art does not need to be framed if gallery wrapped, magnets and/or hanging clips can be employed. 2-D Artwork must have hanging wire, sawtooth hangers, or hanging clips.  For 3-D Artwork a pedestal will be provided, if needed. The artist or owner of the artwork needs to send installation instructions and will assume expenses for the delivery of the pieces as well as for the return label. Recommend that you increase your price of work to reflect these expenses.

For Hand-delivered Artwork

Drop off: All artworks must be hand-delivered between Thursday through Saturday, September 12th – 14th, 2024 by appointment. If your schedule prevents you from dropping off on these dates, call to make other arrangements prior to the drop off dates.

Artwork must be professionally presentable as stated for Out-of-State Instructions.

Pick up: Saturday and Sunday Oct 12-13th. Any questions, please contact us.
