Sculptor and self-proclaimed “shop-rat” Taylor Pilote’s work is a exploration of what it means to be a young, reckless male navigating through contemporary culture with high art interests and a low brow upbringing, all under a smooth, meticulously polished exterior. After receiving his MFA from the University of South Florida Pilote has worked and exhibited throughout the U.S., Canada and Paris. Employing the visual language of automotive exteriors he attempts to conjure a variety of reactions to his materials and subject matter simultaneously as difficult or farcical issues are presented in a slick, seductive manner.
