Catharsis is a solo exhibition by mixed-media artist Angela Yang, featuring a body of work created in response to personal loss and the universal experience of grief. Presented alongside collaborative pieces with fellow artists and musicians who have also known deep loss, the exhibition guides audiences on an emotional journey from despair to salvation.
Set across three floors of the 1310 Gallery, the immersive exhibition unfolds through painting, film, music, installation, and performance. As viewers ascend through the space, they are invited to move through the darkest stages of grief toward emotional release and healing—culminating in catharsis.
Inspired by the loss of her mother during the 2025 pandemic, Yang reflects on how grief alters identity and how people are transformed both by loss and by the act of confronting it. The exhibition not only honors this personal narrative but also speaks to the broader human experience of mourning and rebirth.

To support deeper community engagement, a grief workshop will be offered during the exhibition. Participants will learn coping strategies and create personal artworks as a reflection of their own healing journeys.
Catharsis is free and open to the public and will run until August 7th at the 1310 Gallery.
