The Elephant  – art exhibition is a group arts exhibition featuring work that challenges both artist and viewer to consider their choices about what in our lives, should be revealed and what should be hidden.    We want the elephant out in the open so we can find release…

“The Elephant” as in ‘the elephant in the room’ is metaphorical idiom for an obvious truth that is either being ignored or going unaddressed. The idiomatic expression also applies to an obvious problem or risk no one wants to discuss, It is based on the idea that an elephant in a room would be impossible to overlook; thus, people in the room who pretend the elephant is not there have chosen to avoid dealing with the looming big issue.

 About the producers: Niki Lopez is a multi-media artist.  Known for her vibrant color palate, Lopez’s often ‘other-worldly’ art has acheter viagra pfizer been exhibited across South Florida, New York, and California.  Lopez is also a Graphic Designer known for her community spirit and avant-garde art shows.  Niki is passionate about community & outreach.  Lopez has been an integral  part of the creation of the 1310 Gallery space located within the Sailboat Bend Artist Lofts, where residents create monthly art programs.  As Web Master, Niki created the community’s on-line presence, and is a contributor to the 1310 Gallery brand via Social Media.

A resident artist of Sailboat Bend Artist Lofts, Alana DaCosta is a creative rebel. Alana has not received any formal training in visual arts. However, she continues to think out of the box and uses many mediums to share her creative talents. An artist activist, vocalist, musician, and poet whose distinctive sound extends beyond boundaries as she blends neo-soul with reggae, jazz, and a drop of funk. Alana has performed throughout the United States, Europe and the Caribbean. “My music and art will touch the minds, hearts and souls of people across the world, and will increase

one’s motivation for self-discovery, collective consciousness of one’s purpose, and the desire to live life freely, without regrets.” says Alana, who also has a M.S. in Mental Health Counseling and understands the healing power of the arts. With the drive and passion felt in her music and community art initiatives, there is no doubt, that Alana DaCosta is destined to leave her own mark in our world and make her artistic mission.

Niki Lopez Afro-Latina, Queer, interdisciplinary Visual Artist, Curator, Social Practioner, Cultural Programer, award-winning Graphic Designer and Mom. Lopez is best known for her masks and a collection of works dealing with some of her trauma and healing through the arts which inspired her to create What’s Your Elephant ®. Lopez produces “The Circle”, a bi-weekly Facebook/Youtube live-video podcast sharing stories of our creative community, activists & social entrepreneurs. Niki’s advocacy includes mental health, self-care, and diversity in swimming. Lopez is one of the founding members of the Sailboat Artist Lofts.
