Thou Art Woman returns! A CAN’T MISS event the Sailboat Bend Artist Lofts aka 1310 Gallery to celebrating LGBTQ women. Open mic with featured live performance, singers, and spoken word artist. Within the backdrop of a month long exhibit ‘Portraitic Perspectives Exhibition’ – produced by photographer David Muir!

Alternative/Reggae/Singer/songwriter

Kat C.H.R is the face of Jamaican alternative music. Her sultry, haunting voice intermixed with soulful lyrics,alternative beats, and flavorings of Reggae gives birth to her style – ‘alternative lovers’ rock’. This edgy, paradoxical singer-songwriter is ready to shake up the indie world with her great music and positive vibes!

Terese “Chunky” Hill

Poet, Speaker, Performance Poet, Actress

Acknowledged as one of the prolific voices of our time. This Nationally known spoken word artist has the ability to hold and comfort her audience by delivering heart felt passion through words, provoking the listener to feel inspired and uplifted. Using the gift of speech to draw a vivid picture of culture and diversity that is touchable reality. Terese is a public servant. Severing as a Law enforcement officer for over ten years she has combined poetry and the law into a prophetic mixture. She has captured the ability to voice personal life experience, societal blues, sexuality, and world issues into a soulful gospel

of good news, by using the universal language of poetry.

Embracing her community poetically she has provided an eclectic poetry venue since 2001 for poets, singers and appreciators.. Terese is the Co-founder and CEO of the company SpittFiYa Productions a company which poetry is used as a vehicle to motivate empower and uplift through art of spoken word. In 2003 Terese assembled a group of poets to compete nationally at the National Poetry Slam in Oakland, Ca. Terese has competed at the national level 9 times for the state of Florida. Individually Terese has ranked fifth in the nation out over 200 poets.

This national traveled poet has performed from heat of Mississippi’s delta to the city lights of New York and has found there is no greater pleasure than the voice of youth. In 2004 Spittfiya Youth speak poetry slam was founded to give our youth our most precious commodity a twist to what society is offering them today.

Promoting literacy, writing, diversity and free thinking Terese believes spoken word poetry will inspire our youth to express

with there minds and mouths. Terese is author of life time of poems and the producer of two C.D.’s “Spittfiya Volume 1 a capella oration of poetry and “Unchained Passion’ Spittfiya volume 2 with live accompaniment acoustic music and poetry oration.

Terese is humbled by her gift of speech and willing to share with the world one poem at a time. She is the passion, the fire and the soul of spoken word poetry.

Rebecca “Butterfly” Vaughns

Poet

Rebecca “Butterfly” Vaughns is a Miami native. She is a force to reckon with in the arena of poetry. Her ability to freestyle poetry on the spot for any occasion leaves listeners in awe. She’s the author of 3 self published books of poetry, a recording artist with 11 albums to date as of February 2014, and the producer and director of 9 stage productions. Her work is appreciated by the likes of Ms. Betty Wright, Nikki Giovanni Robert Townsend, Kim Coles, Fantasia, Lenny Williams, and Rick Party to name a few.

Niki Lopez

Niki Lopez Afro-Latina, Queer, interdisciplinary Visual Artist, Curator, Social Practioner, Cultural Programer, award-winning Graphic Designer and Mom. Lopez is best known for her masks and a collection of works dealing with some of her trauma and healing through the arts which inspired her to create What’s Your Elephant ®. Lopez produces “The Circle”, a bi-weekly Facebook/Youtube live-video podcast sharing stories of our creative community, activists & social entrepreneurs. Niki’s advocacy includes mental health, self-care, and diversity in swimming. Lopez is one of the founding members of the Sailboat Artist Lofts.
